There is a new Swedish pizzeria in Hong Kong
So what is a Swedish pizza? Well that you don’t know until you have tried one. And now you have the chance since it just opened a Swedish pizzeria called Swish Pizza in Kwun Tong.
The two guys behind the concept, Jim and Bircan, are both from Uppsala, north of Stockholm. Both have backgrounds in the food industry, Jim is a formally trained chef, and Bircan comes from a family with lots of experience running Pizzerias in Sweden. We decided to ask Bircan a few questions about their new concept:
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Before I left Sweden in 2018, a friend asked me to meet Jim in Hong Kong. I took his advice and me and Jim became good friends immediately. In our first meeting, we actually started to talk about Pizzeria ideas. Pizza was something Jim has wanted to do for a long time, but he never found a business partner to do it together with.
What is a Swedish pizza?
We both agreed that a Swedish style pizza would be very nice to have in Hong Kong. But we had to bring some Swedish ingredients here, such as quality Swedish Pizza cheese, if we wanted to make an authentic Swedish Pizza taste. Our Swedish style pizzas are traditionally thin, flavourful and rich in taste.
The feedback from our customers has been excellent; they really love it. We had quite a few visits from Swedish people so far, some already become our regulars.
Do you do delivery and catering?
With regards to delivery, we will soon start with Deliveroo, but unfortunately, delivery services like this are limited to a 3km radius. We have however, also done deliveries via van service such as Lalamove a few times; it works quite well as an alternative.
Catering we don’t do yet, but this is definitely something that we will consider later.
So how can you order your pizza?
At the moment, we can take orders via phone, Facebook Messenger, or it’s just to come and visit us in person. Currently, we accept payment via PayMe. No cash due to hygiene reasons, but our mobile ordering platform will be up and running very soon. Then our customers will be able to order and pay directly there via several standard payment methods.
